Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE ARC?

The ARC is our Animal Recovery Centre where we try to help dogs and cat rehabilitate after they have been treated by our partner veterinarians.

IS THE ARC OPEN TO VISITORS?

Yes, but strictly by appointment only on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 2pm.  Priority will always be given to sponsors, approved adopters and volunteers.  Visitors who show up without appointments will not be admitted.

HOW DO I ADOPT A CAT OR DOG FROM THE ARC?

We follow strict protocols for adoptions.  Most of the cats and dogs have experienced traumatic pasts at the hands of abusive and/or neglectful humans, and have spent extensive periods of time being treated at by our partner veterinarians at great expense paid for by generous contributions from our community. We will therefore only release them to homes that will continue to care for them the way we believe they most deserved.

Potential adopters must first complete an adoption application form available on our website (or by clicking the following link.)  After completing the form, send us a Private Message on our Facebook Page. We will not be able to contact you if you do not send us a message on FaceBook.

A team of volunteers will then visit your premises to ensure it is safe for the dog or cat that you are applying to adopt.  Volunteers are trained to identify potential problem spots and will offer advice on how to rectify those potential problems.  If our volunteers identify any potential problems, another visit will be scheduled to give you time to rectify them.

When the premises are found to be secure for the cat or dog you would like to adopt, we will proceed with the adoption with the signing of our adoption contract.

CAN I BRING SICK OR RESCUED ANIMALS TO THE ARC?

No.  The ARC is strictly for animals that have been seen by one of our partner veterinarians and given the all-clear to move to the ARC.  This is designed to prevent the spread of any diseases.  Additionally, as we do not have a clinic on site, this process is to help ensure the dog or cat is healthy and ready for rehabilitation when it is released to the ARC.
